THE SALZKAMMERGUT TROPHY – UNLIKELY MTB CHALLENGE / EXPERIENCE

With almost 5000 participants, the Salzkammergut Trophy is Austria's largest and best-known mountain bike event. Since 1998 cyclists from all over Europe come to the fascinating mountain world of the Salzkammergut for a sporting showdown.

The longest route of the Trophy is the toughest mountain bike marathon in Europe with 209 km and 7008 meters of altitude.

The failure rate during the Trophy is between 30 and 50 %. No wonder that even the most inveterate adrenaline junkies have a lot of respect for this extreme course which requires not only an excellent physical condition and a lot of riding technique, but also an enormous mental strength. Just ask former winners such as Swiss Konny Looser or German UCI marathon world champion Andreas Seewald. The maximum time limit is 16 hours and also in that respect the Salzkammergut Trophy ranks high in the list of most challenging one-day races in Europe. Every participant who completes the longest distance is welcomed as a hero at the finish and the last participants who turn onto the finish line in Bad Goisern at dusk can count on an unforgettable moment when they are welcomed by the Trophy devil himself.

"...Austria's largest and best-known mountain bike event."

However, the Salzkammergut Trophy is not just about extremes. With a total of 7 different marathon distances between 22 and 209 kilometers and 2 gravel routes of 22 and 67 kilometers, the event offers a wide range for every performance level.

The beautiful landscape around the Dachstein in the heart of Salzkammergut is a paradise for mountain bikers. It offers a unique combination of imposing mountains, crystal clear mountain lakes and cozy mountain huts. The Hallstatt-Dachstein World Heritage Site is thereby the perfect backdrop for a top event that guarantees an impressive experience on a mountain bike! The three-day bike festival with nearly 80 exhibitors from the bike industry, the (e-)MTB scavenger hunt powered by Bosch, the Scott Junior Trophy, a live concert as well as the legendary After-Race-Party guarantee an unforgettable bike weekend!
