The region around Mont Ventoux is wonderful for cycling. The natural beauty and the beautiful villages follow each other in the wide surroundings of the mountain. The gorges, vineyards, views, hairpin bends, rock formations and typical picturesque villages alternate continuously. We drove several beautiful rides there from camping le Voconce in Saint-Marcellin-lès-Vaison near the picturesque Vaison-la-Romaine. Today we take you on a tour through the Gorges de la Nesque.

Anyone who follows cycling and/or cycles regularly themselves knows the Mont-Ventoux, and for many it is on the bucket list or has already been ticked off – whether several times or not. EXPLORING ALONG CANALS, RIVERS AND LOCKS

It is early November, the harvest is off the field and the fields have been plowed. The colors in the landscape are fading, but the beautiful skimming light of the low sun sets the scene for surprises. When you are in the circumstance of being able to spend a few days cycling in such an environment, you are a lucky man! The Ariège, at the foot of the Pyrenees, is a relatively unknown French department. Unknown’ is therefore not unloved, but certainly unspoiled! Once you have visited the region, you can’t get enough of its beautiful unspoiled nature, historic towns, castles, mountain rivers, peaks and lakes.

AUVERGNE, A FORGOTTEN PART OF FRANCE?

France remains a favorite destination for the Belgian and Dutch (and many other nationalities) vacation cyclist. In 2017, we tried in May to book a cycling vacation in July or August (then we don’t have to look after the grandchildren) in the Auvergne region. Unfortunately, all of our desired locations were fully booked for that period.
