Hosting a cycling enthusiast in the rural village of Voort is like putting the cat to the milk. With 200 inhabitants, Voort is Borgloon’s second smallest village. Right in the heart of the fruit region in Haspengouw – The Tuscany of the North as they even dare to call it there.
In celebration of 400 years of Father Verbiest in 2023, the municipality of Pittem has revamped the already existing “Ferdinand Verbiest” bicycle route from 2010.
On the website vabmagazine.be, mobility organization VAB allowed surfers to choose their favorite from among 10 cycling routes in Flanders. By far the most popular cycling tour was the Trappist route in and around Malle.
The province of Flemish Brabant will have a permanent mountain bike route by the end of 2021. And not just one: the Marathonroute Frans Claes is no less than 136 km long and has almost 2,000 meters of altitude. Ideal for the sporty mountain biker who wants a nice challenge.
It can be assumed with some certainty that many will answer this question in the negative. Others may wonder where to find this area on the map. Reason enough to go to the area south of the Czech city of Brno and then to the border region of the Czech Republic and Austria. A beautiful hilly landscape lies there invitingly ready for every cyclist. We took the test and report on some of the trips we made there in the region. We can already say that it tastes like more.
We are moving to Exeter the capital of the county of Devon (also known as Devonshire) in southwest England. We are not doing so without intention because we will be cycling there. In advance we are briefed on the cycling possibilities in the region by people from Devon County Council. Of course they think their region is an optimal cycling area.
