U. SCANINI 922 ROAD FRAME IS UNKNOWN REALLY UNLOVED?

The Belgian bicycle brand U. Scanini has been producing frames since 1986, but if you ask the average touring cyclist if they know the brand, the answer will usually be no. However, U. Scanini is the very first bicycle brand in Belgium to market carbon frames.

The brand started with chromolybdenum frames, then switched to aluminum and titanium, and then U. Scanini became a true Belgian pioneer of carbon frames. Those first carbon frames were made of glued carbon with aluminum lugs, and a few years later the first monocoque carbon frames were launched under the name U. Scanini 911.

So why is the brand not very well known?

Well, simply because marketing and creating brand awareness were not on the manufacturer’s agenda. The frame can be found on the market under the brand name U. Scanini, but even more often under the private label of bicycle shops that market their own brand with high-quality frames. So maybe you are cycling on a U. Scanini without even knowing it? In the summer of 2024, U. Scanini launched the 922 model. A monocoque frame made of T800S carbon. The test model supplied to Cyclelive Magazine – which we will be testing intensively in the coming months and a test report of which will follow later – was assembled with Shimano Ultegra DI2 and carbon wheels from SX Force.

The frames are made in Asia, entirely according to the wishes and geometry of the manufacturer, and have the following characteristics:

– Frame stiffness due to oversized bottom bracket
– Modern, contemporary design
– Weight frame 920g, fork 335g
– T800S carbon
– Excess epoxy removed from the tubes
– Press-fit bottom bracket
– Integrated cables
– Teardrop-shaped aero seat post
– Complies with UCI standards
– Available in 6 sizes
– Integrated cockpit available for this frame
– Only available through authorized bicycle dealers and the manufacturer claims that the frame is technically, qualitatively and in terms of price in a league of its own. In other words, you get more value for less money.

Recommended retail price frame + fork: €1,699
