L’ETAPE DENMARK IS A ‘MUST BE ON YOUR LIST’ CHALLENGE

The Danish cycling event Hærvejsløbet - The Viking Gran Fondo is now L'Etape Denmark by Tour de France. A challenging and unforgettable ride through the beautiful nature and history of Denmark to be ridden on June 29, 2024. There is a choice of five different distances all going from point A to point B. You will take an unforgettable ride over the natural ridge formed by Jutland during the last ice age.

Over the centuries, the road you cycle along has helped migrants, pilgrims, merchants and Vikings stay dry on their journey across Denmark. Here you have to bring out your inner Viking to overcome the challenging routes and steep climbs. Besides the challenge, the routes offer you plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful landscapes. Moreover, the supplies are also of the best offered in the gran fondo world.

300 km – 2500 HM

The 300-kilometer route from Flensburg to Viborg is the most challenging and iconic of the five. Passing the 300-kilometer mark in one ride is a challenge for the most experienced cyclists, but the feeling of accomplishment afterwards is worth every pedal stroke. The route begins in Germany, soon crosses the border into Denmark and then travels through beautiful countryside of rolling cornfields, beech forests, hills, lakes and idyllic villages.

While the rigors of this demanding gran fondo are sure to test you, the route also offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the ride. At no less than seven places along the way you will pass a supply point. Here, in addition to a very large selection of food/supplies, you can also discover a great atmosphere. Be careful because there is a time limit: You have to pass the finish line before 8:00 pm.

The five Routes:
Flensburg – Viborg 300 km – 2500 HM
Vejen – Viborg 160 km – 1600 HM
Aalborg – Viborg 125 km – 1100 HM
No. Cut – Viborg 75 km – 700 HM
Funder – Viborg 50 km – 400 HM
