360° Alpine panoramas in the Salzburg Sports World

Is one region not enough for you when you go on a mountain bike vacation? Then we have a golden tip for you: The Salzburg Sports World. Here you will find seven places under one roof. Or rather under one helmet. This mountain biking region in SalzburgerLand offers miles of trails, forested ridges and rocky peaks. Anyone who just wants more on a mountain biking vacation is in the right place here.

Fancy a taste of Salzburg? How about the most infamous signature trail in the Alps, the Stoneman Taurista? The 360° Alpine panorama is certainly no empty slogan here; if you want to truly experience it anywhere, it’s here.

In the Salzburg Sportwelt, people speak in superlatives. With a network of 1,500 kilometers of bike trails, 51 signposted tours and a trail of a class of its own, one may certainly do so. Indeed, the offer sounds like an endless number of opportunities to try out all disciplines and forms of mountain biking. With its seven summer resorts – Flachau, Wagrain-Kleinarl, St. Johann, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Eben and Filzmoos – the Salzburg Sports World has something for every mountain biker. And of course a very special trail of a class of its own: the Stoneman Taurista.

Cycling summer in the Salzburg Sports World

At the trendy cycling spots of the Salzburg Sports World, the idyllic natural landscape sets the pace and slows you down as soon as you arrive. The flow comes naturally thanks to the panorama and selected routes. If you want, you can also put your fitness and coordination to the test on tours up to 2,000 meters in the Salzburg mountains. Countless challenges, frontier experiences and impressive natural spectacles await on the kilometers of trails. Where shall we start among the countless uphill, downhill and single trails?

The ultimate MTB challenge: Stoneman Taurista

And then, of course, there is the ultimate MTB challenge with an impressive 360° Alpine panorama: the Stoneman Taurista. At 123 km and 4,500 depth meters, the undisputed signature trail has everything that makes the region so special: rustic alpine meadows & huts, streams, rivers & mountain lakes and panoramic views of 150 peaks (!) of the rugged Tauern Mountains. Not only does an impressive alpine panorama await you at each summit you’ve conquered with muscle power, but also at the next checkpoint.

The Stoneman Taurista is divided into freely selectable stages. This makes the XXL trek a personal experience. There is no room for competitive thinking – on the Stoneman you are your own benchmark and the Olympic spirit is what counts.

As a reward, the absolute highlight awaits: the summit of the Rossbrand with a breathtaking panorama as far as the eye can see. The route back to Flachau is a constant up and down over narrow nature trails, through high moors and to the Johannes waterfall near Obertauern. A short pit stop at the Mandlberggut is the perfect place to toast alpine cycling fun with specialties from the in-house distillery!
