RUTGER WOUTERS WINS AND TAKES YELLOW IN BURKINA FASO

Today there were ten 14 km local rounds in the capital Ouagadougou on the program of the Tour Of Burkina Faso. A course with switchbacks at a traffic circle and a u-turn. Before the start, there was commotion about the safety of the course.

Around the traffic circle it was full of gravel and mud, which was not to the liking of the peloton. Yellow jersey wearer Paul Daumont took the initiative to ask the UCI commissioner to turn back before the traffic circle and so it happened!

The Burkinese, who were at the start with three teams of six riders, joined forces and controlled the whole race, until the last kilometer.

At 1200 meters from the finish, the Belgians of the Thielemans – De Hauwere team went to the front in block to take the U-turn which was 700 meters from the finish line.

The sprint was drawn for Wannes Heylen, but he was trapped. Rutger Wouters was able to break away though and won the sprint by half a wheel on Moroccan champion Ed Doghmy Achraf. Another Moroccan listening to the name Sabbahi El Houcaine completed the podium.

Leader Paul Daumont (Burkina Faso) finished fourth, losing the leader’s jersey to Rutger Wouters due to the play of bonuses.

Rather, it is a familiar tornado – the one that propelled the brand to the top of the Benelux market in no time at all in its early years – which has returned once more within the structure of Zannata Bikes. This tornado is sparking a revolution within the brand, driving Zannata’s ambition to reclaim its place at the top of the market in a short space of time.
