Velofollies 2026 with free Cyclelive Magazine
In addition, the fair presents a broad overview of parts, clothing, accessories, cycling tourism, and services. In terms of experience, visitors can participate in various workshops, test e-bikes, and meet (former) cyclists for interviews and meet & greet sessions.
And… Cyclelive Magazine will also fuel your cycling passion during the winter months. At Velofollies, you can pick up our next issue for free at the entrances and exits of the fair.
Slovenia as guest country: the emerging cycling paradise
Cycling holidays are more popular than ever, both as family outings and recreational trips with the family, as well as in groups with cycling friends focused on active performance and challenges. This year, Slovenia will take center stage at Velofollies with a special pavilion that brings together more than 20 regions, hotels, and cycling tourist services. The country is rapidly growing as a top destination for MTB, gravel, and road cycling and is home to world-class cyclists such as Tadej Pogačar, Primož Roglič, and Matej Mohorič. Visitors to the ‘Slovenia Outdoor Pavilion’ can find inspiration for recreational rides, adventurous trips, or competitive challenges. Routes, accommodations, and local cycling activities provide a complete picture of Slovenia as a versatile and cycling-friendly destination.
Positive market outlook driven by e-bikes and bicycle leasing
The Belgian bicycle market got off to a strong start last year, with a good spring and favorable weather conditions stimulating demand for new bicycles. Bicycle leasing remains an important driver of this growth thanks to attractive conditions for employees, such as gross salary deductions linked to commuting allowances. This makes more expensive models increasingly affordable.
The continuing popularity of e-bikes is also contributing to the dynamism and growth of the market: the latest models offer improved battery technology, longer range, faster charging times, sleek design, and smart features such as GPS, heart rate monitoring, and theft prevention.
Integration, aerodynamics, and weight as pillars for performance enhancement
Road and mountain bikes continue to focus on performance this year, with an emphasis on aerodynamics and lightweight designs. What is striking is that bikes are increasingly being designed as a whole, with the frame, wheels, cockpit, and accessories working seamlessly together for optimal performance and aerodynamics. Wide tires offer extra grip and comfort, while lighter materials and integrated cables increase efficiency.
Handlebars are also becoming narrower for a more efficient riding position, while suspension systems on mountain bikes are becoming smarter and more responsive. In the racing segment, we are also seeing an increase in drivetrains without front derailleurs, which makes shifting easier, further reduces weight, and provides a subtle aerodynamic advantage. In this sporty segment, we are also seeing more and more e-bikes, making hilly rides, long distances, and headwinds more accessible.
Gravel bikes, which have now become a fully-fledged bike category, are also following these trends with wider tires, increasing integration of suspension for greater comfort and control, improved drivetrains, and a focus on lighter and more versatile designs that are suitable for both everyday use and bikepacking.
Components, High Tech, and Sustainability
Velofollies 2026 will pay special attention to the three leading component suppliers: Shimano, SRAM, and Campagnolo. Visitors will discover the latest group sets, shifting systems, and high-end electronic and mechanical innovations, suitable for both amateurs and professionals.
High-tech innovations such as integrated GPS, heart rate monitoring, automatic suspension, and advanced battery technology with charging capabilities for smartphones are also becoming increasingly common.
At the same time, the focus is increasingly on sustainability: from recycled aluminum, bamboo, and biodegradable lubricants to new production methods that limit environmental impact. This is also reflected in cycling clothing with PFAS-free garments and technical innovations that make cycling more enjoyable and even more environmentally friendly than it already is by nature.
