Cycle the “RheinWelten” with the whole family
Along the Veloland-Rhine-Route 2, “RheinWelten” connects about 250 highlights waiting to be discovered. The route winds through picturesque landscapes, reveals cultural treasures and invites culinary discoveries. Cycling here is combined with visits to museums, wineries and farm stores as well as inviting gastronomy and overnight stays. The St.Gallen-Bodensee region offers three unique discovery routes: On the “Lake & Beach” route on the shores of Lake Constance between Staad and Romanshorn you get the Mediterranean summer feeling. You can recharge your batteries – literally and figuratively – at numerous bars and restaurants that exude the Mediterranean beach feeling.

The “Wine & Farming” cycling route runs through the picturesque Rhine Valley and combines the beauty of cycling with the pleasure of wine. By bike or e-bike, you can enjoy breathtaking views of mountain panoramas, castles and palaces. Along the way, idyllic wine villages and farms invite you for a wine tasting. In the adventure world “Monastery & Beer” you can experience Swiss brewing culture and UNESCO World Heritage. The rich brewing tradition, dating back to the monastery of St. Gallen, is waiting to be discovered. The famous monastery plan from the 9th century is just one of the many attractions. A stop at Switzerland’s oldest brewery is therefore more than worthwhile.

Four cycling routes to savour
The “Rhine pleasure route – loop in the Green Ring” begins in the heart of the city of St. Gallen and leads through green oases in the suburbs to the historic Mülenen Gorge, the Drei Weieren recreation area, the city park and the Peter and Paul wildlife park. Numerous cafes and traditional inns provide refreshment in between. On the bike tour “Italianità at Lake Constance” you will cycle from the city of St. Gallen to the beautiful Lake Constance and back through the eastern Swiss hinterland. The route takes you through orchards, along the old Rhine, along Lake Constance and through the Appenzellerland with stunning panoramic views of the eastern Swiss Alps. There are a few elevation gains along the way, so it’s worth packing your swim trunks and cooling off in Lake Constance.
On the “Loop mit Schoggi, Käse & Säntispanorama” all connoisseurs get their money’s worth: past the Chocolarium and the Appenzeller Show dairy, where it’s worth stopping by bike – the calories are burned along the way anyway. The Rhine Valley of St.Gallen offers the “circular walk from farm to farm.” You cycle over sunny vineyard terraces, along the Rhine and through nature reserves. The route takes you past the House of Wine in cozy Berneck, where viticulture has been a living tradition for more than 1,000 years.
Conclusion: For a cycling vacation with the whole family, this is the place to be. Cycling here means enjoying all the natural beauty along the shores of Lake Constance or the Rhine with the lively vacation feeling all around you.
And…if mom and/or dad want to go uphill, no problem the mountains are already smiling at you!
