MOUNTAIN BIKING ON AND AROUND THE 3 ZINNEN

With its unique mountain landscape, the region of the 3 Zinnen Dolomites has already turned many a head. Especially those who wear bicycle helmets. With their spectacular ridges, climbs, meadows and alpine pastures, Sexten, San Candido (Innichen), Dobbiaco (Toblach), Villabassa (Niederdorf) and the Braies Valley are a real playground for mountain bikers. The impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site 3 Peaks is always in sight.

And right in the middle of the area you will find a fantastic 29-km singletrail, 1,550 m high in the Alps. The Demuth Passage is the region’s most coveted trail and belongs on any serious Dolomite cycling bucket list.

Border experience on the Carnic ridge

The views of the mountains of East and South Tyrol are truly sublime. But the Demuth Passage immediately grabs our attention again. The trail extends up to the Kniebergsattel and is more of a day hike than a short trail, laid out as a high-alpine bypass. But cyclists with slightly less ambition also get their money’s worth around Sesto, San Candido, Dobbiaco, Villabassa and the Braies Valley. The network of gravel and mountain bike trails is so large and varied that there is something for every pair of calves.

If you’re biking in this region don’t forget that other popular trail of the 3 Zinnen Dolomites region, the Marchkinkele. With its 7 km and 740 downhill meters, it goes up to the Silvesteralm and on to Dobbiaco. It is it a rather difficult and technical trail that will bring the necessary adrenaline in you and will also immediately take you past historical sites.

Especially because of the shooniness of nature and the very unique view of the 3 phrases, this region is an absolute must to quickly tick off your bucket list. So just do it! Bang open the door and go on an adventure!
