Hulst looks ahead to the 2026 Cyclo-cross World Championships – Special exhibition at Museum Hulst ‘s-Landshuis
The approximately three-kilometer course runs along the ramparts and city canals and offers everything that makes cyclo-cross so appealing: steep slopes, technical passages, muddy sections, and spectacular artificial obstacles. For three days, Hulst will be the center of the international cycling world. To look ahead to this unique sporting event, Museum Hulst ‘s-Landshuis is organizing a special exhibition until Monday, February 2, 2026. Together with the organizers of the Vestingcross, an exhibition has been put together that takes visitors on a journey through the history of cyclo-cross and the development of the Vestingcross in Hulst. The exhibition not only provides an overview of previous editions, but also gives insight into the rich tradition of cyclo-cross. Visitors will learn about the origins of the sport, the most important rules, and the specific equipment used by riders. This explains why cyclo-cross has been a winter sport par excellence in Flanders for decades and why the Netherlands has been catching up rapidly in recent years, thanks in part to top riders such as Fem van Empel, Puck Pieterse, and Mathieu van der Poel.
The museum is located at Steenstraat 37 and is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission to the exhibition is free.
