CYCLING WITH THE MIDNIGHT SUN AS YOUR COMPANION
The 300 km route of the Saimaa Cycle Tour departs and arrives from Imatra. The tour passes through several towns and beautiful lake landscapes. The route goes through the Taipalsaari and Puumala areas where lakes surround you on both sides of the road. It is simply a unique experience both in terms of performance and nature!
In addition to the Saimaa Cycle Tour, there are also the shorter distances. For example, there is the Ruokolahti Tour which is about 38 km long. The departure of the Ruokolahti Tour will take place on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024 between 10:00 and 11:00 am – the departure time will be confirmed about two weeks before the event. The route starts and ends in Imatra and goes around the famous Ruokolahti Church, where there is a refreshment and bicycle service point. The route is entirely on asphalt roads and is not demanding. You can also do the Ruokolahti tour by electric bike.

The second tour on the program is the Jaakko’s Tour. It is 85 km long and the route also starts and ends in Imatra. The departure of the Jaakko’s Tour will take place on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024 from 10 a.m. onward. The route goes through the church hill of Ruokolahti and around Äitsaari Island, home of professional cyclist Jaakko Hänninen, who currently rides for the AG2R Citroën Team. This route profile is not difficult either and the entire route is on paved roads. There are two drink and snack points along the route, food is also available at the finish.
This 85 km route can also be participated in with electric bikes. And then of course there is the challenge for the real fanatics, the Saimaa Cycle Tour with its 300 km. The start takes place between 19:00 and 23:00 – depending on your registration. So you cycle through the night, with the midnight sun as your companion. A magical event when you are surrounded on both sides of the road by the waters of the beautiful Finnish lakes. A trip for your bucket list? It already occupies a prominent place on our list!
