BUCKET LIST IN THE NOCKBIKE REGION MILLSTÄTTER LAKE – BAD KLEINKIRCHHEIM – NOCKBERGE

The Nock Mountains are one of the top locations in the Austrian state of Carinthia. The mountain range extends across Carinthia, the state of Salzburg and the province of Styria. The mountain range is characterized by its rounded, dome-like grassy peaks. A true cycling gem in unspoiled nature.

Those who venture into the NOCKBIKE region of Millstätter See – Bad Kleinkirchheim – Nockberge will be surprised not only by the unspoiled nature, but especially by the unexpected alpine beauty of the landscape in the heart of Carinthia; the battle cry of mountain bikers here is “NOCKBIKE!”. The diversity of the Nockberge and the surrounding mountains always has something new in store. Magnificent mountain bike tours take you over green mountain ridges, along the longest flow country trail in Europe for 15 kilometers into the valley and along selected nature trails to the shore of the lake. So grab your bike and your swimsuit! It doesn’t matter if this is your first time here, if you are a regular visitor to Carinthia or if you are just passing through: it won’t take you long to realize that the Carinthian Nockberge and the surrounding mountains are one of Carinthia’s greatest cycling treasures. In addition to your bicycle, you certainly won’t want to forget your swimsuit, because the many lakes in the region are simply part of the vacation fun! It is precisely this combination of alpine beauty, a mild Mediterranean climate and countless lakes that makes it so special. So make sure you always have your swimsuit with you – it’s worth it.

5 NOCKBIKE tips

To ensure a perfect start to your NOCKBIKE region cycling vacation, we have five tips to make your vacation in the NOCKBIKE region even more special.

  1. Start the day at the Bike Boutique Hotel Lindenhof in Feld am See: The “Radlerei” is the cycling meeting point in the center of town – a small bistro & café with slow food cuisine. If you like, you can visit your host, cycling guide and cycling pioneer of the region, Hannes Nindler, again in the evening at his award-winning restaurant with its rustic, modern atmosphere.

  2. First, head to the pump track: right by the Kaiserburgbahn valley station, over 1,000 square meters of practice terrain await adventurers of all ages. The perfect preparation for the great NOCKBIKE adventures.

  3. The Flow Country Trail – the longest flow country trail in Europe: Take the Kaiserburgbahn cable car to the start at more than 2,000 meters above sea level on the Kaiserburg. The approximately 15 km long flow fun begins through the striking – and extremely photogenic – rock arch. You descend approximately 910 meters with a maximum incline of 8%. Here you really descend with the flow!

  4. The Alter Almweg: The perfect combination of beautiful views, with challenging passages of the nature trail and arrival at Lake Brennsee.

  5. Combination of Lake Millstatt & Turracher Höhe: Perfectly signposted mountain bike routes and trails are waiting to be explored in the Turracher Höhe trail area. The highlight is the almost 6-km-long Kornock Trail – a beautiful carousel of curves to the lake!
