FINALLY THE DANES RECEIVE THEIR TOUR DE FRANCE
Will Wout Van Aert join Georges on the podium as stage winner again soon, and can he do so already in Denmark? Will he bring home the green? How many stage wins will the Belgians take? Will the Dutch – including showman Mathieu van der Poel – do as well or better? And who will beat Tadej Pogačar for the overall victory? Will it perhaps just be the Dane Jonas Vingegaard who fires him up or rather Primož Roglič? These are some of the questions that dominate speculation and bar talks and to which we will discover the answers in the coming weeks. The party starts right now on Friday in Denmark!
With great Danish riders in the present-such as Jonas Vingegaard (Team Jumbo-Visma), Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) or Kasper Asgreen (Quick.Step-Alpha Vinyl Team)-and past-such as Bjarne Riis, Rolf Sørensen or Nicki Sørensen (no family)-Denmark can safely be called a cycling country. No wonder too, because it is a beautiful country with a diverse landscape and also a good cycling infrastructure.
After the prologue time trial in the capital Copenhagen and stage one from Roskilde to Nyborg, the cycling circus will ride through beautiful Sønderjylland (southern Jutland) on day three. This part bordering Germany is a true cycling paradise. It does not matter whether you choose the “normal” bike, the road bike, the mountain bike or the versatile gravel bike (You can read an extensive travel report of our trip through Sønderjylland in Cyclelive Magazine 70).
There are many accommodation options to choose from. From star hotel to cabin. There is ample choice for every budget. You can choose to go bikepacking, but you don’t have to arrange everything yourself. On the site of the regional tourist office, they have the option to choose a completely arranged bike trip.
