BREDA SHOWS ITS CYCLING HISTORY IN A SPECIAL WAY
You know them, the gray utility boxes that pop up here and there in the streetscape. And they are usually not pearls. For graffiti sprayers an ideal opportunity to 'embellish' them with their tags. To prevent that, the cabinets are increasingly given a creative dressing.
Sometimes they are painted but photographs are also widely used for this purpose. The Dutch city of Breda decided, in cooperation with the company URBAN ID from Strijbeek, to provide three utility boxes with photos on the theme of cycling that have a relationship with their city. The photos were taken by Johan van Gurp, photographer for BN DeStem at the time.

1. Frits Pirard, cycling tour of Princenhage 1975 Diaconesseweg at entrance Amphoia Hospital location Langendijk
2. D’n Pel, Kees Pellenaars Ettensebaan-Liesboslaan.
3. Ronde van Nederland, Joop Zoetemelk Ettensebaan-Heilaarstraat.
So if you take a bike ride through Breda, go look for the images of a piece of local cycling history.
