Experience summer vacation by bike

In the saddle between Dachstein and Ausseerland. A summer cycling vacation in the Salzkammergut means breathtaking landscapes, mountains and lakes, trails and tours that will make your heart beat faster—even before you start cycling. Between Dachstein and Ausseerland, unspoiled nature, culture, and exciting history come together in a sporty present. All this in the unique, fairytale setting of crystal-clear lakes and majestic mountains.

With an unbeatable panoramic view of mountain peaks, we dive into the extraordinarily beautiful lakes, enjoy nature, and pedal away—with or without electric assistance, because it’s not always flat in the Eastern Alps. We start in Ausseerland—a region that not only enchants cyclists with its mountains, lakes, and vast landscapes, but also inspires them.

Nestled in the backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Dachstein, a world of unique experiences awaits.

Natural and cultural treasures united

In the UNESCO World Heritage region of Hallstatt Dachstein/Salzkammergut, unspoiled nature and culture meet. Crystal-clear lakes and majestic mountains create a unique fairytale backdrop. The approximately 800 km long network of routes leads through the region to hidden natural beauties and highlights such as the Gosausee. The cable car takes you to great heights, where attractions such as the “5fingers” viewing platform or the impressive cave world with the giant ice cave and the mammoth cave await you. If you go cycling in the Dachstein-Salzkammergut region, the Dachsteinrunde should definitely be on your bucket list: the tour offers various routes between 182 and 269 km around the Dachstein massif and through the breathtaking landscape. Challenging climbs included. A new meeting place is the new BSFZ Trail Area at the foot of the impressive Krippenstein – here you will find a world-class course in a small but versatile trail area. It’s the icing on the cake!

Panoramic mountain views in Ausseerland

The Ausseerland Salzkammergut with its idyllic lakes and mountains is also full of cultural highlights. Here, breathtaking nature, cultural riches, and sporting diversity are combined. The Loser is the perfect place for anyone looking for fresh mountain air, impressive panoramas, and sporting challenges. Under your own steam with a lot of effort, with e-bike support to make it a little easier, or with the new Panoramabahn without any effort at all – you can reach the summit, where another highlight awaits you: the Augst Trail. Flowing passages, technical challenges, and breathtaking views make this trail a must for cyclists in the Salzkammergut. Recreational cyclists can relax on idyllic paths in the valley. Or they can take the 42 km Salza loop from Bad Mitterndorf via the Salzaalm to the Grundslsee. Whether you want a very active or more relaxed vacation, the Ausseerland offers the right experience for everyone!
