KRONPLATZ KING – TROPHY HUNT IN THE HEART OF THE DOLOMITES!

The Kronplatz King mountain bike marathon is the ultimate mountain biking event in the Kronplatz region of the Dolomites. Every year, around 800 enthusiastic mountain bikers from all over the world compete for the coveted title of the new “Kronplatz King.”

On August 30, 2025, the battle for the Kronplatz crown will enter its next round. In addition to the supreme discipline, there is also a lighter version:
Marathon King – 64 km
Prince Classic – 49 km

Two years ago, the “KINGMarathon” was shortened by almost seven kilometers to a total length of 64 km. In addition, the climbing was reduced to a total of 3,150 meters. The shortened course of the ‘KINGMarathon’ means less suffering for the participating mountain bikers, as organizer Maurizio Kastlunger explains: “We took the wishes of the participants into account. The total time in the saddle will now be shorter, but the cycling enjoyment will be even greater. We are offering less quantity but even more quality.” To guarantee the extra quality, a new section has been added to the route immediately after the first climb from the start in St. Vigil to Rit, before returning to the familiar route to the famous finish on the Kronplatz.

The new section runs via Rit to Wengen past the Biei – Rung farms before climbing up to Forcela da Cians, a two-kilometer steep slope with 230 meters of climbing and a maximum gradient of 20%. This extension shortens the last section of the old route on the northern flanks of Kronplatz compared to 2018.

However, the cycling fun that has always been synonymous with the Kronplatz King will not suffer, as Kastlunger confirms: “We have retained all the freeride downhills from Piz de Plaies, as well as those from Kronplatz via Furciatrail, so all participants will be able to tackle the freeride descents with a total length of eight kilometers and a single track section of nine kilometers. Thanks to this year’s changes to the route, you can enjoy a significant increase in panoramic views of the Dolomites and the famous Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park.”

Suffer and enjoy in the Dolomites… a new challenge and a great adventure await you!
