BËN GNÜS A SAN VIGILIO DOLOMITES!

If you love panoramic views and grinding altitude meters on your road bike, then South Tyrol is the place for you. In the San Vigilio Dolomites, the heavyweights—where pages of cycling history were written—await you.

Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Kronplatz, the Marmolada Bike Tour, and the Sella Group. Here, every cycling vacation becomes an adventure and a challenge. The region around Plan de Corones/Kronplatz in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites offers a choice of tours to suit every taste. The legendary mountain peaks sound like music to our ears. The small municipality of San Vigilio lies at the gateway to the Fanes-Sennes-Prags and Puez-Gaisler nature parks in South Tyrol and on the edge of the Dolomites. Cycling “in the middle of nature” is certainly not just an empty marketing slogan here. The unspoiled, lush surroundings are literally right around the saddle. In the Kronplatz holiday region, we not only get to know the facets of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites and the extraordinary nature parks, but also learn a few words of the oldest language in South Tyrol: Ladin. The centuries-old traditions of Ladin culture are lovingly preserved in the Dolomites and the language is still actively spoken. This is just one of the many special features we encounter here.

Here you can bridge altitude differences with multimeters!

The breathtaking mountain passes are another feature of the San Vigilio Dolomites region. In the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, you can conquer massive altitude differences. And to make the agony of choosing the passes for your next road bike vacation a little easier, we present three tours through the San Vigilio Dolomites that will make your calves glow with pleasure.

1. The 4-pass tour to the Sellaronda

Four breathtaking passes await you on this tour around the Sella massif – combined with spectacular views of the surrounding peaks of the Dolomites. The Passo Gardena (2,121 m), Passo Sella (2,244 m), Passo Pordoi (2,239 m), and Passo Campolongo (1,875 m) make it an unforgettable ride.

2. The Marmolada

Same start – different route. Just like the Sellaronda, you start with the Gardena Pass and the Sella Pass. But then we descend into the Fassa Valley. Now comes the highlight of the tour with the ascent of the Marmolata, the Fedaia Pass at 2,057 meters.

3. Tre Cime di Lavaredo/Drei Zinnen/Three Peaks – UNESCO World Heritage Tour

This tour covers an endless number of meters of elevation gain! We start in St. Vigil over the Valparola Pass (2,192 m) on a winding climb towards Cortina d’Ampezzo. The route continues steeply over the Tre Croci Pass to the famous and extremely steep Tre Cime di Lavaredo. The climb starts at Lake Misurina with gradients of up to 19.9%. On the way back, those for whom the tour was not enough can quickly add the Furkel Pass to their backpack.
